Eminent personalities shower praises on SRMIST founder chancellor on his 84th birthday celebrations

84th birthday celebrations of T R Paarivendhar remain impressive Chennai, August 23:

T P Ganesan auditorium at SRMIST premises at Kattankulathur was filled with thunderous applause as 84th birthday celebrations of T R Paarivendhar, founder chancellor of SRMIST were conducted here today.

Members from Department of Student Affairs of SRMIST enthralled the audience with cultural performances. Birthday souvenir of T R Parivendhar who is also Member of Parliament from Perambalur constituency was released on the occasion by eminent spiritualist Kundrakudi Ponnambala Adigalar and the first copy was received by Dr. Madhuri Satyanarayanan.

Tamil Perayam of SRMIST organized the celebrations titled ‘Service Day (Sevai Thirunal 2023).

Silambu performance and Bhangra dance were among the performances that stood a highlight. Educationist Dr T R Paarivendhar paid floral tributes to the portrait of his mother during the celebration.

The souvenir comprised praises from people from all walks of life who have crossed paths with the founder chancellor of SRMIST in recognition of his services in various walks of life.

Kundrakudi Ponnambala Adigalar said man is measured not by inches but by his deeds. The accomplishments of the founder chancellor stand testimony to his good deeds. Nation progresses because of education and that is where he made his presence felt with his achievements.

The founder chancellor has glorified his life in the service of others. He has also left an unforgettable impression in the field of politics. He commenced his journey as a politician with a motive of serving the people.

Many from the down trodden have educated themselves and progressed in life, thanks to his initiatives to provide education to those in need, said Kundrakudi Ponnambala Adigalar.

Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said, education alone would bring in prosperity to a nation and its people. Founder chancellor of SRMIST Dr T R Paarivendhar had enlivened what the eminent saint had said, with his accomplishments in the field of education.

Another eminent spiritualist Mayilam Sivagnana Balaya Swamigal said educationist T R Paarivendhar had made this state an hub of education and institution he has established and nurtured stands an indication of the giant strides made by this state in the field of higher education.

Industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiar said SRMIST has become an hub for education. Students who have studied here have proved their mettle across the globe.

Harini Ravi, Correspondent, Valliammai Engineering College and SRM Arts and Science College said she was delighted to see the release of the souvenir which had praises for her grand parent for his accomplishments in the field of politics and education.

The souvenir is a reflection of achievement of his life time goal which is giving back to the society. My grand dad always believes in giving back to the society as a mark of gratitude for what we have got from it.

Dr. Madhuri Satyanarayanan said her granddad serves as an excellent source of inspiration to her. I aspire to achieve a lot deriving motivation from him.

He used to call me a doctor and encourage me even before I had my degree, he retained confidence in me that I would reach great heights in life, she said. Dr Paarivendhar in his acceptance speech said the praises showered on him have humbled him.

Reminding that he had started his career with an institution TNT – Tamil Nadu Tutorials, as time moved ahead, the growth was witnessed and it culminated into three colleges, five universities with a student strength of over one lakh.

The growth was possible due to the cooperation and support that poured in from teachers, students and staff. They deserve a big praise for that, said Founder Chancellor.

Debate and poetry recitation were conducted prior to the birthday celebrations. Competitions were conducted for school students to mark the birthday celebrations of Dr Paarivendhar and prizes were distributed to the winners.

President of Tamizh Perayam Karu Nagarasan welcomed the gathering. Registrar of SRMIST S.Ponnusamy proposed vote of thanks.

Industrialist V G P Santosham, former Tamil professor Sarada Nambi Arooran, film director R K Selvamani, professor K Gnana Sambandan, industrialist Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti and film lyricist Arivu Mathi also praised founder chancellor of SRMIST. Vice chancellor of SRMIST Prof C. Muthamizh Chelvan was among those present.
