The Department of Agricultural Engineering of SRM Valliammai Engineering College, in association with the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) – Faculty & Student Chapter, the Institution of Engineers (India) – VEC Student Chapter, and AICTE IDEA Lab, successfully organized the Fourth National Level Students’ Technical Symposium – CRONUS’26 on 21st February 2026.The symposium was conducted under the esteemed guidance of the Director, Dr. B. Chidhambararajan, the Principal, Dr. M. Murugan, and the Vice Principal, Dr. S. Visalakshi. Their constant encouragement and visionary leadership contributed significantly to the grand success of the event.
The program was presided over by the Head of the Department, Department of Agricultural engineering, Dr. S. Packialakshmi, along with Head of the Department, Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. D. Elango, who graced the occasion and motivated the participants with their inspiring words.The Chief Guest, Shri L. Saravanan, Assistant Director of Agriculture (Information and Quality Control), Office of the Joint Director of Agriculture, Chengalpattu, inaugurated the symposium. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the current trends and vast scope of Agricultural Engineering. He emphasized the growing importance of farm machinery, value addition in agricultural produce, and the significance of organic farming in achieving sustainable agricultural development.
The symposium featured a series of engaging and competitive technical events, including Agrolympus, Agro Nova, Agrix Solution, Agro IQ, and Plot the Vision, conducted for participants from various institutions. Students from engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu actively participated and showcased their technical expertise, creativity, and innovative thinking. The best-performing students were recognized and awarded for their outstanding contributions. CRONUS’26 served as a vibrant platform for young minds to exchange knowledge, foster innovation, and strengthen their technical competencies in the field of Agricultural Engineering.
