India has finally resumed international flights on March 27th, 20221, to restart normal overseas operations for airlines and airports. This decision just ahead of the summer season augurs well for the travel and tourism industry at large. According to DGCA reports, 60 airlines from 40 countries have been given the permission to operate 1,783 frequencies to/from India during the summer schedule which will be effective from March 27 to October 29. It also reported that a total of 1,466 international departures per week have been approved for six Indian carriers for the summer schedule and they will operate to 43 destinations in 27 countries. A sharp rise in airline bookings leading to pre-Covid levels is anticipated in the coming months.
