Chennai, August 8, 2026 — Taiwan Maami, Chennai’s leading premium Taiwanese café and food brand, today inaugurated its third outlet in the city at Anna Nagar. The new café was inaugurated by Mr. Stephen S. C. Hsu, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in Chennai, Mr. S. Vijayakumar, Head of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Branch Secretariat, Chennai, MLA V.K Ramkumar and MLA Dr. Sathish Christopher, in the presence of delegates from Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Located on 6th Main Road, Anna Nagar, the new café offers an authentic taste of Taiwan through handcrafted bubble teas, freshly prepared mochi, and a carefully curated menu of Taiwanese and Asian specialties that reflect the island’s rich culinary heritage. Designed under the vision of founder Theresa Hu, the café captures the warmth and vibrancy of Taiwanese culture while introducing local diners to authentic flavours and traditional recipes.
Elevating this culinary vision is newly appointed Executive Sous Chef Shah Abbas, who brings over 20 years of fine-dining mastery from premier hospitality brands including Raj Park Hotel, Ramada by Wyndham, and Turyaa Chennai.
The inauguration brought together invited guests, business leaders, and well-wishers to celebrate the opening of Taiwan Maami’s newest destination. This expansion reflects the growing appreciation of Taiwanese culture in Tamil Nadu and the increasing presence of Taiwanese businesses in the region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Stephen S. C. Hsu, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in Chennai, said:

Therefore, I have made cultural diplomacy as one of my key priorities in promoting Taiwan’s engagement with South India. During the 2025 International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisine held in July 2025, I publicly expressed my vision to bring more authentic Taiwanese restaurants into Chennai and across South India, enabling more people to discover Taiwan through its cuisine.
Today, it is truly encouraging, and I am very delighted to see my vision becoming a reality. Taiwan Maami has grown from one outlet to three, reflecting the increasing appreciation of Taiwanese cuisine and culture among the people of Chennai. This remarkable achievement is not only a business success, but also a meaningful symbol of the growing friendship between Taiwan and India.
