In their comments, Mr. Jerome Fenelon, and Mr. D Badrinarayan, Directors, Madras Maplai Restaurant, said: “In the Tamil society, families take particular care and pride in serving feast for the bridegroom and the close relatives within a day or two after the marriage. Called ‘maplai virundhu’, the feasts are grand and the guests are treated with utmost love and respect. We have Maplai in our brand name as we are very much inspired by this tradition of hospitality – the prefix, Madras, denotes the place of our origin and presence. We are probably the only multi-cuisine fine-dining restaurant in this vicinity. We consider every cuisine a primary cuisine, and not an add-on. The food items of all cuisines are prepared only by Master Chefs and are served in cuisine-specific cutlery. For instance, Chinese food comes in ceramic plates.”
They added, “Food safety is our topmost concern. We never add any artificial chemicals, colouring agents or taste enhancers. We also do not use any taste elements – be it salt or chilly, more than what is essential to bring the authentic taste. All our supervisors are trained and have Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).”
It is promoted by a young team with over six years of experience in the catering and hospitality industry. Madras Maplai restaurant undertakes outdoor catering and bulk orders. It has its own staff to deliver food at the doorsteps of customers – besides, the restaurant is also available on the food delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato.
