Kanchipuram, June 9, 2026: THINK Gas, one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies, today announced significant progress in expanding its natural gas infrastructure across the Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu Geographical Areas (GAs). The company has successfully completed over 500 km of steel and MDPE pipeline network, enabling access to cleaner fuel for domestic, commercial and industrial consumers. As part of its growth plans, THINK Gas aims to expand the network to 550+ km by 2026, while increasing Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) connections from 10,125 households to 20,000 households. The company currently operates 52 CNG stations, with plans to expand to 70 stations within the next year, benefiting over 30,000 vehicles and supporting the transition towards cleaner mobility solutions.

With the support of MoPNG and PNGRB through progressive gazette notifications that accelerate CNG and PNG adoption, THINK Gas has been able to significantly expand access to clean, reliable, and uninterrupted energy for households, commercial establishments, and industries across its geographical areas.. THINK Gas has been serving consumers in the Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu region since 2021, steadily developing infrastructure to enhance access to natural gas. Over the years, the company has expanded its presence through investments in steel and MDPE pipeline networks, CNG stations and customer connectivity. Consumers can apply for a DPNG connection through the THINK Gas online portal, customer care centres/18002021999, authorised representatives or the toll-free helpline numbers. PNG services are currently available across Sriperumbudur, Vallam, Kelambakkam, Padur, Navalur, Thalambur, Thaiyur, Egattur, Thiruporur, with network expansion underway in Tambaram, Mudichur, Sholinganallur, and Molachur.

A key initiative launched by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is the declaration of “LPG Free Zone” as and when the authorized City Gas Distributor in the area confirms that PNG network is available. This has been carried out diligently by THINK Gas in Kanchipuram & Chengalpettu districts. The initiative promotes safer, more convenient and sustainable energy usage while encouraging greater adoption of PNG in areas where the infrastructure is readily available.

THINK Gas is creating immediate employment for around 500 On-ground staffs for Marketing and Technicians/Helpers for Household plumbing works. The Workplace will be Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, Vellore and Thirupathur. Interested candidates can apply through careers@think-gas.com or call 1800-2021-999.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Thirukkumaran N.T., Regional Head – Kanchipuram GA, THINK Gas, said, “The continued expansion of our pipeline network and customer base reflects the growing acceptance of natural gas as a reliable and cleaner energy source. Through sustained investments in infrastructure, expansion of our CNG network and initiatives such as LPG-Free Zones, we are committed to making clean energy more accessible to households, businesses and industries across the region while supporting India’s long-term energy transition goals.”

At Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu have an estimated 30,000 LPG autos as per RTO data that can be converted to CNG. Think Gas provides a subsidy of ₹8,000 towards the conversion cost of ₹26,000, reducing the auto owner’s contribution to ₹18,000. By switching to CNG, drivers can save up to 40% on fuel costs, resulting in monthly savings of approximately ₹6,000–₹7,500 and recovering their investment within 2–3 months.

THINK Gas is also offering CNG Station Dealership to set up exclusive CNG Stations at potential places, which is a Long-Term Business opportunity. Priority will be given to the most suitable sites, such as national highways, state highways, urban areas, and sites within city limits.
Natural gas is widely recognised as one of the cleanest conventional fuels available today. Compared to traditional fuels, it produces lower emissions, supports improved air quality and offers a safe, convenient and uninterrupted energy solution for domestic, commercial, industrial and transportation sectors.
