Chennai, 5th October, 2022: Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, India’s largest chain of diabetes centres launched AI enabled digital innovations under its digital transformation called Dr. Mohan’s Digital Diabetes Revolution with the 3D Initiative. The three D’s include 1, ‘DIA’ – an AI powered chatbot to assist people through automated digital conversations, 2, ‘DIALA’ – a patient-friendly mobile app and 3, ‘DIANA’ – a healthcare application for precision diabetes care.  Dr V. Mohan, Chairman & Chief Diabetologist, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre, and Dr. R. M. Anjana, Managing Director, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre launched this initiative in Chennai on October 5th 2022. The digital transformation initiative enables seamless and highly personalized 24/7 online care and support services for people with diabetes. It is powered by world’s leading next-gen Total Experience (TX) Automation Platform, the AI enabled virtual assistant to engage patients through integrated approach across WhatsApp, Google Business Message, Facebook Messenger and web platforms.

Conversational AI Virtual Assistant ‘DIA’ can interact in English with its unique conversational AI technology and intuitive interface, it will be a perfect solution for patients, providing complex dialogues, with quick response time and offers comprehensive solutions for patients with diabetes. DIA’s uses range from scheduling appointments and reminders for visits, lab tests and teleconsultation, to addressing enquiries on available medicines, treatments, and facilities. During an emergency health crisis or in pandemic situations, it connects with caregivers and patients to take proper action as per the seriousness of their conditions. Further, it shares notifications, updates patient engagement and special offers. In addition to this, DIA will assist patients through reminders on their medicine refill via WhatsApp or SMS notifications and even facilitate purchase and tracking of medicine orders. Yellow.ai is our Platform Service Provider for DIA.

‘DIALA’ is a DIAbetes Lifestyle Assistant Mobile Application. With this app, one can have the full power of Dr. Mohan’s integrated diabetes care approach at ones fingertips. This app helps deliver superior and positive patient outcomes with weight tracking, step counts, diet plan adjustment, prescription refilling, availing reports of tests done, glucose monitoring data, scheduling appointments, diabetes shoppee, reminders and much more. It can help to monitor the health and manage diabetes effectively. It is currently available in Android and soon  will be available on iOS also.

An advanced machine learning tool DIANA (DIAbetes Novel subgroup Assessment) is used to classify individuals with newly detected type 2 diabetes into specific subgroups such as insulin deficient or insulin resistance forms. This tool also gives the estimates of the risk for developing diabetes complications like eye or kidney disease. This machine learning approach has been developed based on published real world clinical data and will help the clinician offer individualized care for people with diabetes.

Dr. R. M. Anjana, Managing Director, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre added, “With the increase in smartphone penetration at every household and seamless data connectivity healthcare transcends beyond just physical care. Large volumes of digital health-care data with deep learning paves the way for deployment of bots to facilitate the use of technology to provide information and assist our patients. Enabling a conversation across various platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google Business Message and other web platforms will empower patients. We wanted to enhance patient experience by offering all the essential services like home blood collection and booking a consultation by a single click. People who are unable to come in person can also book teleconsultations through the bot.”

Dr V. Mohan, Chairman & Chief Diabetologist, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre said “During the pandemic we faced difficulties in managing our patient’s needs. It’s our duty to address patient’s queries anytime from their phones and computers. Through these AI powered innovations, we offer expert medical advice accessible to everyone a round the clock. These tech enabled next-generation platforms will offer real-time solutions about diabetes care and dispel myths for the benefit of our people. With an aim to provide timely medical assistance through technology integration and disruption, we are confident that it will bridge the gaps prevailing in diabetes care. We aim to provide a holistic healthcare experience by helping patients and doctors to intelligently monitor health data over long term to enable predictive and proactive care “
